Fingerprint test sites compared: amiunique, BrowserLeaks and more
Updated
Browser fingerprint test sites answer different questions. Am I Unique compares your fingerprint with its own visitors to show how rare it is. Cover Your Tracks from the EFF checks how well your browser resists tracking. BrowserLeaks runs separate tests for each signal, such as IP, WebRTC, canvas and fonts. The FingerPrint Checker test shows what a fraud-prevention service does with your fingerprint: whether it recognises you again and how much it trusts you.
Want to test your own browser now?
Our free browser fingerprint test shows the visitor ID your browser gets without cookies and whether it is recognised again in a private window. The rest of this page compares it with the other test sites.
Am I Unique
A research project that collects fingerprints from its visitors and tells you what share of them shares each of your values. Use it to see how distinctive your browser is.
Cover Your Tracks
Run by the Electronic Frontier Foundation. It tests whether your browser blocks tracking ads and invisible trackers and whether your fingerprint is unique among its visitors. Use it to judge a privacy setup.
BrowserLeaks
A collection of individual tests: IP address, DNS and WebRTC leaks, canvas, WebGL, fonts, client hints and more. Use it to inspect one signal in detail, for example to check whether a VPN leaks your real IP over WebRTC.
FingerPrint Checker browser fingerprint test
Runs the same agent our customers use to stop free-trial and coupon abuse. It shows the visitor ID the server assigns, whether the same ID comes back in a private window, the identity confidence, and a trust score with the reasons it dropped, such as automation, a datacenter IP or a time zone that does not match. Use it to see your browser the way a sign-up form does.
Which test should I use?
- How unique is my browser? Am I Unique.

- Does my VPN leak, or what exactly does one signal show? BrowserLeaks.
- Would a website recognise me again and treat me as a real user? The FingerPrint Checker test.
Frequently asked questions
Why do the tests give different results?
They compare against different groups of visitors and measure different things. Rarity depends on who else visited that site; recognition depends on how the service matches returning browsers.
Is a unique fingerprint bad?
For privacy it means you are easier to track across sites. For security it is normal: almost every browser is unique, which is what lets a service tell a returning device from a new one.
