What is my IP address? Free IP lookup
Your IP address is the public address websites see when your browser connects to them. This page shows it, whether it is IPv4 or IPv6, which country it is registered in and which network (ASN) it belongs to. You can also look up any other public IP address. Nothing you look up is stored.

What an IP address tells a website
- Country: where the address block is registered or announced. It is usually right at country level and often wrong at city level.
- Network: the organisation that runs the address, identified by its autonomous system number (ASN), such as your home internet provider, a mobile carrier, a company or a cloud host.
- Version: IPv4 (four numbers, such as 203.0.113.7) or IPv6 (longer, with colons). Many connections have both, and a site may see either one.
- Not your identity: an IP address names a connection, not a person. Many people can share one address, and your address can change.
Why your IP address changes
Home and mobile providers hand out addresses from a pool, so yours may change when the router restarts or your phone moves between towers. A VPN or proxy replaces it with the address of the VPN server, and mobile carriers often put thousands of customers behind one shared address.
Does a VPN hide your IP address?
For normal web traffic, yes: sites see the VPN server’s address instead of yours. But your browser can still reveal your real address through WebRTC, and the browser itself stays recognisable, so a VPN does not make you anonymous on its own.

How to find your IP address on Windows, macOS, iPhone and Android
This page shows your public address, the one the internet sees. The address in your device settings is usually a private one inside your home or office network, such as 192.168.1.20, which websites never see.
- Windows: Settings, Network and internet, then the properties of your connection.
- macOS: System Settings, Network, then Details next to your connection.
- iPhone: Settings, Wi-Fi, then the information button next to your network.
- Android: Settings, Network and internet, Internet, then the gear next to your network.
Frequently asked questions
What is my IP address?
It is the address shown at the top of this page: the public address your browser’s requests come from, as every website sees it.
Is the location shown for my IP address exact?
No. IP location data is reliable at country level, which is what this page shows. City-level locations from any service are often off by tens of kilometres or more.
What is an ASN?
An autonomous system number identifies a network on the internet, such as an internet provider, a mobile carrier, a university or a cloud host. Every public IP address is announced by one of them.
Do you store the addresses I look up?
No. Each lookup is answered and forgotten. A small per-address limit stops the lookup from being used in bulk.
Using a VPN? Check for leaks
Your browser can reveal your real address through WebRTC even when a VPN hides it for normal browsing.
